Job Description
LGIM are seeking a team orientated individual who is self-motivated with an innovative mind, good communication skills and imagination to join the UK Transactions team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of large portfolio transactions. We expect such portfolios to be originated from Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) transactions. These portfolios are likely to be large in scale and diversified from a sector, credit, term and risk perspective. L&G have pioneered a capability to in-specie Real Assets (specifically commercial property investments) as part of PRT deals and now need to grow our resource to meet a substantial pipeline in the coming years.
LGIM are seeking a candidate who can further enhance our capabilities, be a best-in-class Transaction Manager with the organisation skills, analytical background, market awareness, contacts, experience and knowledge to continue the growth of a dynamic platform. Reporting into Tom Roberts, Head of Strategic Investment, the role involves being a part of a proactive, specialist team and is an exciting opportunity for the candidate to take a leading role in developing our business.
Duties include:
  • By utilising their existing skills, the successful candidate will be required to support and enhance the platform's capability with its investment transactions
  • The successful candidate will take responsibility for transaction related matters often on the business' biggest and most complex transactions
  • Utilise their extensive market knowledge to feed into current and future fund strategies
  • Prepare and present transaction recommendations to LGIM investment committee boards
  • Provide input for property valuations to ensure correctness
  • In addition to demonstrating strong, considered and reliable underwriting skills the successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role throughout the transaction process to include the following:
    • Preparation and presentation of asset/portfolio underwrite to internal stakeholders from across the business
    • Creating detailed business plans to identify the best course of action. This will require a good understanding of life cycle ownership not just initial investment
    • Work closely internal stakeholders such as other Transaction specialists, Asset Managers, Fund Managers and Investment Committee members
    • Demonstrate strong capability in leading external stakeholder teams. Lead in coordinating all technical due diligence including where relevant any planning and development related matters. Work closely with agency and legal teams providing clear instructions
    • Have strong decision-making skills in leading demonstrating an awareness of outcomes/consequences
    • Work with third party specialist consultants, provide in depth advice regarding the suitability of scheme specification in the context of not only investment, letting and occupier demand but also regulation, wellbeing and ESG
Qualifications
  • Relevant experience within the Real Estate investment market
  • Portfolio or complex transaction experience is a prerequisite
  • Strong background across Real Estate sectors will be advantageous / beneficial
  • Expert knowledge of the transaction process including origination, underwriting, and management of due diligence process
  • An ability to conduct and analyse management, technical and due diligence and translate this succinctly to a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Passion and knowledge to place ESG at the centre of all decisions and recommendations
  • Excellent academic background, with a numerical aptitude, strong A levels and a degree (which may be non-cognate)
  • MRICS preferred
  • A team player demonstrating high levels of dynamism, drive and commitment
  • Highly organised with the ability to run multiple projects and prioritise effectively
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
