Transactions Solicitor/Cilex Lawyer/Enrolled Barrister

Our starting salary for lawyers is £42,400.  This increases to circa £53,000 for successful candidates with 3 years PQE

The role

This is a great opportunity to work in-house in a friendly and supportive environment.  You’ll be providing high quality legal advice on property related matters as well as other transactional matters to Southern Housing and its group. This will involve a varied caseload of residential and commercial conveyancing and property transactions, as well as assisting more junior team members with more straightforward transactions.  As an in-house team we also deal with a wide variety of non-contentious legal queries which you will support the business with.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing routine property transactions.
• Dealing with more complicated transactions and providing legal advice on non-contentious matters with support appropriate to your level from more experienced members of the team.
• You’ll assist with developing the in-house legal provision to meet the needs of Southern Housing and its group.
• You’ll attend meetings with colleagues throughout the business to assist them with non-contentious legal issues.
• You’ll review property and contract documents and report on them to advise colleagues on risk, options and possible outcomes in their work for Southern Housing.
• You’ll develop positive working relationships with all of the team’s stakeholders – colleagues, resident’s solicitors and other third parties.

What you’ll need

• You’ll be either a qualified CILEX Lawyer, Solicitor, or Barrister.
• Previous property law and/or conveyancing experience (particularly working in social housing or for other public sector bodies).
• Previous experience of dealing with complex property transactions and commercial Contracts.
• Ambition to provide a fantastic service as part of the Legal Services team.
• Excellent IT skills in particular Microsoft Office suite and Outlook, and able to work within a case management system.
• The ability to present information in a variety of forms to a high standard, including excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent drafting skills
