Major Crime Review Team DC

 

Are you a qualified Detective and looking for a change in role? Would you like to join a force that offers a rewarding and challenging opportunity within the Major and Organised Crime Department? If so then a career with Staffordshire Police could be for you. Applications are invited from PIP 2 qualified Detective Constables and transferees for the role of review officer in the Major Crime Review Team based at Staffordshire Police within the Specialist Crime Command. Current core working hours are Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 16:00. However, there is an expectation that applicants are prepared to be flexible to work beyond those hours if required.

 

Working within a small team, this is an exciting opportunity for those who have an interest in reviews of Homicide and undetected major crimes, such as undetected cold case Homicide and serious crime to look for new investigative opportunities within those cases. You will also conduct other Homicide and Major Crime reviews to support colleagues such as peer/thematic reviews and cascade the learning from those reviews. Applicants should have experience of investigating Serious and Complex crime, ideally having experience of working within Homicide investigations. You will be professionally curious, methodical and capable of absorbing a large amount of information with the aim of identifying new investigative opportunities, good practice and learning with the ability to work to strict deadlines. This role will also involve working with other agencies.

 

PIP2 qualified Detective Constables in Major & Organised Crime currently receive an additional £750 annual payment, spread over 12 months, subject to annual review by the Chief constable from 1 August, following approval by the Executive Management Board to implement Targeted Variable Payments (TVP).

TVP is a national scheme open to all forces, and can be made in a small number of cases, including to retain staff where there is a critical skills gap or because of the hard-to-fill nature of the role. In addition to existing DCs currently receiving this payment, PIP 2 qualified DCs recruited from other forces into this role will also be offered a one-off payment of £750 to join Staffordshire Police. 

 There will be a requirement to undertake training and maintain CPD accreditation.

Appointment will be dependent upon successfully passing pre-employment checks, vetting, and medical, which will include a drugs test and a fitness test.
