We are growing our RVN team and currently have an exciting opportunity to work in our friendly multidisciplinary referral hospital. This rare opportunity is perfect for a RVN keen to develop their nursing career and specialise working as a member of a successful Transfusion Medicine Service (TMS) in the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals. Our TMS is one of the busiest in the world and the only place in the UK to collect and store feline blood products. We perform 500-800 blood transfusions a year, helping to save the lives of hundreds of pets.
As an RVN within the service, the role includes taking blood donations, liaising with blood donor owners, and coordinating transfusions of blood products aiding treatment of patients throughout the hospital. Our successful candidate will be organised and a good communicator as you will be liaising with blood donor owners and a range of colleagues daily. The role also involves presence at events to raise awareness and recruit more donors to the programme.
Referral experience is not a requirement as specialist training and support will be provided. However, experience working with Emergency & Critical Care patients, and/or ability to demonstrate extensive phlebotomy skills would be desirable.
This is a part-time role working 21 hours per week with 1:4 Saturdays (8am-4pm). The weekday working pattern is across 4 days, however, 3 days might be considered on discussion.
