Job description

A Vacancy at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Applications are invited for 24 hours per week Transgender HealthcareGeneral Practitioner posts working in the NCTH as part of the NCTHnet. This is a new post.
Applicants must be eligible for registration on the General Medical Council (GMC) General Practitioner register, is a requirement. Equivalent qualifications and experience would be considered.
Any Clinician who is unable for personal reasons to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification to the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with Consultant colleagues.
Newly appointed Clinicians can be offered mentoring which will be arranged by the Executive Medical Director.
The post will be based atNCTH, 12 Broad Street, Nottingham, NG1 3ALand will provide outpatient assessments and treatment there or remote video consultation. NCTHnet has developed and integrated the use of remote and video consultation during the COVID-19 pandemic and NCTHnet has continue their clinical activity at pre COVID levels throughout the pandemic.
The successful post-holder will be expected, with suitable training, to work as a ‘Lead Clinician’ in Transgender Healthcare and undertake Transgender Healthcare assessments, recommendations for gender affirming medical treatments, recommendations for gender affirming surgical treatments, manage a caseload, and liaise with primary care for the delivery of these treatment and also other services as required. NCTHnet will provide the entirety of this training while in post with the support (if required) of the Gender Identity Healthcare course.
NCTHnet is the second largest clinic in England with a comprehensive and experienced multi-disciplinary team. Clinicians are members of national and internationally recognised transgender organisations.
Within the NCTHnet established team all members have a minimum of 3.5 years’ experience with some practising for over 20 years in Transgender Healthcare. Induction and training are calibrated to previous experience in trans healthcare.
Whilst the clinical team is first and foremost delivering patient care, many of the clinicians hold dual expertise in education and training of transgender health. Sharing of experience, expertise and knowledge is a skill and the clinicians within NCTHnet have the accredited expertise to deliver this.
• To deliver face to face and remote Transgender Healthcare clinics.
• To record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively and submit this promptly to the Information Department.
• To participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and, as appropriate, for NCTH
• To participate in annual appraisal for senior medics.
• To attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trusts and NCTHnet, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.
• To participate annually in a job plan review with the Clinical Director in order to ensure that the post is developed to consider changes in service configuration and delivery.
• To work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services and share with consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management.
• To comply with the Trust’s agreed policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions, and to take an active role in the financial management of the service and support the medical director and other managers in preparing plans for services.
• To comply with the Trust’s Duty of Candour.
