Job description

Transition & Progression Coordinator for SEND (Peaks Campus)

37 Hours per week X 52 Weeks per year

Salary Range £33,952 - £39,212

Permanent Position

Building on our current high-needs provision, you will play a key role in the new tailor-made offer based primarily at Peaks campus!

This high-needs provision is designed around the core concept of creating a nurturing space that is specially set up to cater to the complex needs of discrete high-needs learners.

As Transition & Progression Coordinator you’ll cross-campus to help 16-24-year-old vulnerable high-needs students to access college programmes, being the main point of contact with multiple key people around the learner as well as line managing EHCP & SEND staff.

You’ll ensure each young person has both a successful transition into college as well as the appropriate support once they start on programmes.

The role of Transition and Progression Coordinator is ideal if you:

  • Have a solution-focused mindset while understanding the challenges those with complex needs face on their pathway to adulthood
  • Can work with a huge range of in-college staff to help them understand the needs of each learner
  • Passionately believe that learners from all backgrounds & situations, however complex, should have the right to an excellent level of education, and want to work with them to break down barriers and build success
  • Want a varied role where you will plan and organise a huge range of transition activities, including interviews, visits, and tasters while providing great communication with all parties surrounding the young person

Day-to-day you will be responsible for:

  • Helping young people with SEND needs to overcome barriers to their learning
  • Liaising closely with schools, the Local Authority and families to ensure a smooth transition into college
  • Planning and organising a wide range of exciting transition activities
  • Championing our commitment to putting students first
  • Promoting our values of fairness, respect & equality

After your first year with us, success would look like:

  • Built relationships & trust with high-needs students to help them get the most out of their learning journey
  • Staff have a strong understanding of each learner's needs and you have established yourself as an effective team member
  • Learners understand you are the first point of contact to assist with transition issues

We're open-minded & welcome all applicants who believe they can succeed. Though ideally, you will:

  • Have deep experience and knowledge of working with SEND and learners who face difficulties in accessing mainstream education
  • Are a great communicator and can work well with the full range of people involved with each learner both internally & externally
  • Be confident in line-managing and enabling staff to be their best

We also offer outstanding pension, benefits & annual leave packages!

Apply now if you're looking to join a healthy work culture made up of talented people who celebrate each other's success.
