Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity supporting young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

Our Careers and Participation Service works with young people at risk of not participating in learning, or those who are not participating in education, employment to provide support to enable them to re-engage and to improve participation in learning across Staffordshire.

If you are passionate about supporting young people to improve their skills and confidence to participate in further education, training, or employment, hold an adult teaching qualification, and have experience of delivering engagement activities, employability skills and careers guidance, this role could be ideal for you.

Main Responsibility

You'll work with a wide range of young people across Staffordshire, providing them with mentoring support, skills development, and careers guidance to enable them to successfully participate in post 16 learning and maximise their future potential.

This will include:

  • Planning a re-engagement programme that can be tailored to meet individual needs.
  • Delivery of one to one and group sessions in community settings.
  • Networking with local providers, support agencies and employers to identify progression routes.
  • Monitoring and assessing young people involved in the programme.
  • Managing a caseload and maintaining accurate records.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have :

  • effective communication and inter-personal skills and will be passionate about supporting young people to reach their potential.
  • the energy and enthusiasm to be enterprising, innovative and forward thinking to lead and develop a NEET re-engagement programme.

You will also need:

  • adult education and training and advice and guidance qualifications
  • substantial knowledge and experience of developing and delivering engagement programmes and achieving positive outcomes for young people.
  • experience of designing, planning, and delivering innovative and engaging programmes of learning for individual and groups of young people across Staffordshire.
  • a vision to adapt the programme of learning and assessment to meet the needs of a diverse range of young people, creating individual plans for routes into education and achievable outcomes. 
  • knowledge of progression routes and experience of supporting learners into further learning, volunteering and/or employment with training.
  • strong time management skills to enable you to manage a caseload of young people. 
  • the ability to build effective working relationships across a wide range of people and organisations.
