We are looking to recruit a Transitional Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Cyber Security within the School of Computer Science to complement our strengths and support our growing Cyber Security research group (CybSec)

As a Transitional Assistant Professor you will be a promising early career researcher in Cyber Security, with potential to develop activity and reputation in the discipline.

As an Assistant Professor, you will have a growing national reputation and have the potential to make a significant impact on research and teaching.

As an Associate Professor, you will have a substantial and growing national and international reputation and will make a significant impact on research and teaching.

You will undertake research, individually and collaboratively, that complements the existing interests and activities within the CybSec group. You will take an active role in supervising doctoral researchers, and will take responsibility for developing and leading new research and other initiatives linked to your area of Cyber Security.

You will have the ability to deliver a high standard of teaching through a variety of methods to support the school’s teaching requirements, within your area of expertise in Cyber Security. You will also be responsible for the development of content and structure of existing and new modules as part of the overall curriculum, with the potential to contribute toward delivery at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

As an Assistant or Associate Professor, you will seek and secure funding through the development of your own research proposals and be active in research and knowledge exchange projects both internally and externally.

In addition to the above, as an Associate Professor you would act as the principal investigator on major research projects, interpret and review research project outcomes and contribute to curriculum leadership.

See our recruitment microsite (https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/jobs/currentvacancies/computer-science-opportunities/index.aspx) for more information on our School’s vision, research strengths, and role within the university strategy.

Our vision as a School is to be highly rated in all areas; Research and Knowledge Exchange, Education and Student Experience. We are committed to creating opportunities for people from groups traditionally under-represented in the field of Computer Science and therefore the ability to relate to and mentor students and colleagues within an increasingly ethnically and gender diverse community is essential.

At the University of Nottingham, we aim to give you all the support you need to nurture your talent, develop, and reach your professional and personal career goals. You will have access to a range of benefits and rewards, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance.

This is a permanent position. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 18.25 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. We are open to discuss flexible working arrangement. Job share arrangements may be considered.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Steven Furnell at steven.furnell@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
