Job description

The Social Worker posts advertised will be recruited at Bands H, I and J, dependent on the applicant’s experience (See job profiles attached for full information). Please specify the band you are applying for in your application.

We are always delighted to receive applications from talented candidates, especially those with Housing, Looked After Children, Welfare & Benefits, Mental Health and Educational backgrounds, including voluntary sector candidates.

We know you don’t want to wait too long to hear back from us - so we are committed to actively reviewing applications as they arrive and will be in touch to arrange interviews with suitable candidates as soon as possible.

About our Transitions Team

The Transitions Team provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in relation to working with individuals as they prepare for adulthood.

The team works collaboratively with other professionals, organisations/providers, carers and families. This team is pivotal in shaping and driving the Preparing for Adulthood programme forward.

We are passionate about working with individuals who require support, advice and guidance as they transition into adulthood and welcome applications from those who are keen to develop and want to improve the lives of Rotherham residents and shape the commissioning of services.

About you

We are looking for qualified Social Workers who share our vision and aspirations for people - Social Workers who want to make a difference.

As our ideal candidate you will:

Have knowledge and experience of applying statutory legal frameworks and policies including the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Making Safeguarding Personal, and Continuing Healthcare Frameworks.

Root your practice in compassion, social work values and theories, understanding the why of what we do in our unique profession, to best promote people’s wellbeing.

Be confident in working with situations of varying complexity and be able to make appropriate decisions quickly to support those in crisis, and to ensure people are seen and supported in a timely manner.

Know how to work with our partner agencies to help people find solutions to maximise their independence and resilience, enabling people to take positive risks, and lead good lives.

Our Offer

Rotherham is on an exciting journey to transform its Adult Social Care service to ensure every adult is supported to maximise their independence and be safe, healthy and well. Our One Rotherham Values ensure we are committed to be Honest, Accountable, Respectful, Ambitious and Proud in everything that we do. Rotherham is an amazing place to live and work, with its historic Town Centre, country parks, woodlands, and nature reserves.

Rotherham is well connected to the other fine towns and cities in South Yorkshire both by road and by a comprehensive public transport network - including the UK’s first tram-train connecting Rotherham and Sheffield, pioneering cleaner, greener ways to travel.

We value our team members, and Rotherham is a welcoming, friendly place to work, where your practice can flourish, to help us to meet our aim to develop outstanding social care practice, underpinned by our core values.

We know that social work can be tough sometimes, and we aim to offer great support and benefits to those who work for us including:

  • An attractive pay and benefits package including bicycle and car hire schemes, and a paid honorarium for Practice Educators
