At a glance

This role is based at our Waitrose Bracknell Distribution Centre in Berkshire. 

 

The salary range for this role is set at £29,200 to £43,800 per annum.

 

This is a permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week, on the PM Shift (12:00-20:00)

 

About the role

As a Transport First Line Manager, you will lead a team of LGV Drivers in Bracknell RDC. You will be Responsible and accountable for managing Partners, Managers and Agency across the Transport operation within a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week operation. You will ensure achievement of productivity and agreed key customer service levels within cost targets through a motivated team. As well as ensuring Health and Safety, EU Driving Regulations and all legislative and operational procedures are adhered to and Partners are treated fairly and with respect. At times, you will be required to to deputise for the Transport Shift Manager in their absence.  

 

Key responsibilities include 

  • Managing the Transport operation, delivering to Branches and other customers in line with the agreed service level

  • Ensuring all Legal, Health and Safety, EU Driving Regulations and Operational procedures are adhered to at all times, ensuring the safety of self and others

  • Maximising productivity and managing the usage of overtime and agency to improve costs

  • Effectively communicating operational and business plans and changes to all Partners 

  • Ensuring all Personnel policies and procedures are followed, enabling Partners to be treated fairly and with respect

  • Ensuring information is recorded accurately on all Transport and Personnel Management Systems 

Essential skills you’ll need

  • CPC National, LGV1 ( C+E qualification on licence ) 

  • Excellent Transport knowledge of current EU and Working Time regulations 

  • Experience of working in a management role in a Transport / Distribution environment 

  • A good understanding of Health and Safety legislation 

  • Experience of dealing with full disciplinary procedures according to ACAS guidelines

  • Previous experience of leading a team and developing others 

  • PC and numerically literate
