About The Role
Are you a skilled Transport Planning professional seeking an exciting opportunity within food manufacturing? If so, then this could be the role for you. Our fish processing site in Redruth delivers high quality products to our customers up and down the country. We take pride in our innovative approach, sustainable practices and vibrant work culture, and we're looking for a Transport Manager to join the team.
Reporting straight into the Site Manager you will develop and implement efficient transport strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of our products. You will oversee route planning, carrier selection and performance monitoring, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost savings. Through collaborating with the wider teams you will optimise our logistics operation out of the 2 Cornwall based sites, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards at all times.
Responsibilities of the team include:
- Ensure all deliveries and collections are in line with planned requirements
- Provide problem solving guidance on any operational issues such as late changes to plans and compliance with policies and procedures
- Plan and manage resources to deliver a cost effective delivery service
- Produce individual plans for particular drivers within an overall plan
- Analyse the plan against actual schedules to understand areas of improvement
- Maintain compliance and conformance for safe working practices and working time regulations
- Ensure policies and procedures are followed at all times
- Ensure the completion of all associated records and reports and highlight any inaccuracies, issues or complaints
- Proactively identify opportunities for improved operational efficiencies
- Organising shunters and ensuring that vehicles and trailers are available when needed

We're looking for someone who has a proven experience in transport planning, ideally within the food manufacturing industry with experience of planning a large and successful transport operation. You will have strong analytical and problem solving skills along with exceptional communication and leadership abilities. You'll also be familiar with supply chain management principles.
