Transport Planning Administrator
Responsible to: Control Tower Planner
salary £28k
Shifts: Tuesday - Saturday OR Sunday - Thursday
This is an exciting time to join one of the biggest retailers in the UK and you can join them in their fast-moving business as a Transport Planner Administrator
You will be supporting with Transport Planning, producing effective delivery schedules to maximise vehicle utilisation, proactively working with carriers, DC's, hubs & internal departments to provide an overall seamless transport operation for the JD Group whilst controlling cost.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce loading and delivery schedules to ensure effective delivery and collection of stock &
* Assisting in organising all aspects of the transport operation
* Liaise with the network of hauliers to obtain backloads
* Using internal & external software to input bookings and liaise with carriers
* Route planning for full loads, groupage and pallet network loads
* Provide the communication link between customers and carriers
* Make any required changes to the current operation to help towards industry best in class
* Implement SLA's for business units across JD Sport to reduce transit time. Ensuring consistency, clarity and accuracy
* Drive standardisation across the control tower planning operation
* Identify and recommend systems that need to be introduced to future proof the department
* Project manage the on boarding of the systems including TMS roll out across the network
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
· Experience working within the transport and logistics industry
· Experience of using system-based planning tools including a TMS
· Self-learner, the ability to continually learn, develop and adapt
· Excellent communication skills - written, verbal & listening
· Able to bring about change via effective communication and practical demonstration
· Positively able to demonstrate building relationships to support business growth and objectives
· Ability to influence positively at all levels
· Ability to proactively identify opportunities for change and improvement
· Ability to maintain a level-headed approach under varying levels of pressure
· Ability to prioritise and deliver as appropriate whilst working at pace
· Competent decision making
· Good geographical knowledge
· Working experience in control tower planning across the EU and rest of the world - Preferable
· Excellent Microsoft Excel/Office skills
· Knowledge of WMS - Preferable
· Knowledge of SQL & Power BI - Preferable
· Knowledge of TMS - Preferable
