We have partnered with a leading logistics solutions company based in Paisley and who are currently seeking an experienced Transport Planning Coordinator to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with operational experience in a Transport Planning role within a busy transport environment.

Responsibilities within your new role

In this role as the Transport Planning Coordinator, the primary duties include reviewing pending orders within the transport management system (TMS) and strategically planning daily vehicle movements to enhance fill rates and minimise empty mileage. The emphasis is on ensuring the cost-effectiveness of routes for all vehicle movements. Coordinating with hauliers and distribution centres for transportation aligns with the scheduled plans, involving the arrangement of collection/delivery times and obtaining necessary booking references. Attention to detail is crucial, with a focus on accurately inputting all relevant information into the TMS. The creation and completion of the delivery schedule are integral tasks. Additionally, the role involves efficiently managing daily issues, and escalating them when deemed necessary. Providing requested operational data and KPIs contributes to the overall quality of the transportation operations.

 

Your experience, qualifications and personality

The preferred candidate for this position should possess operational expertise gained in a Transport Planning role. A solid understanding of food safety regulations and practices is essential. Proficiency in utilising the Microsoft Office suite, with a specific focus on importing and manipulating data from external sources, is a key requirement. Familiarity with the freight, transport, and logistics industry is advantageous, along with a comprehensive understanding of WTD and EU/AETR rules governing drivers' hours. Knowledge of temperature-controlled transports and proficiency in a European language is considered desirable.
