The position will be a National role based at one of the Distribution DC’s and involve majority travel.
The Distribution network for Wholesale and Retail operates from 10 Distribution Centres, serving 190 Booker Cash and Carry/Makro branches and over 5000 independent retail customers. We make over 10,000 deliveries per week.
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager for Transport to join the Central Distribution Transport Team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the development of the Distribution network to ensure that we have the capacity to shape and support the future growth of the business as it expands. As Network Design, range and volume moves happen across the network at an increased pace, the Transport Project Manager will manage all Transport related elements and continue to respond to operational delivery requirements.
In addition to being the Transport Project Lead for Network Design, the successful candidate will also be responsible for working across the Central Transport Teams to develop and support the delivery of Central projects and ensure a safe, cost effective and efficient delivery service, taking us a step closer to our Group purpose of “serving our customers, communities and Planet a little better every day”.
This is a national role. For consideration as a Project Manager you must have a minimum of two years’ experience in a Transport related role and meet the requirements outlined below.
Leading the Transport Operational Design and set up of the network design project
All aspects of Transport related to Network Design, in order to ensure health safe and legal compliance
Working with the Network Design team to ensure successful implementation and rollout of all Transport aspects related to the project
Reporting data accurately, measuring the costs & benefits associated with your work.
Supporting the day-to-day operation and projects with the Central Transport Team & the wider Transport teams as necessary.
Work to improve efficiencies & drive our Transport Decarbonisation agenda forward as part of our Planet purpose.

This role will have exposure to teams across the Booker business as well as interaction with the whole distribution network. This is an excellent opportunity to develop cross-functional working and problem-solving skills.

Transport Manager CPC essential as well as an in depth knowledge of operational Transport Management
Strong business acumen and the drive to make changes to the way the company operates

The ability to innovate new and pragmatic solutions using your own ideas and to deal with any issues as they arise
