My client is a market-leading organisation in waste management and recycling. As part of their proactive expansion, they are looking to hire an experienced Health and Safety Manager. They operate their own recycling and transport facilities, offering comprehensive waste management and recycling services to commercial customers.
This position is ideal for individuals with experience in roles such as Head of Transport, Depot Operations Manager, or Logistics Manager across various industries, including Skips, Tankers, Tippers, RoRo’s, and Logistics.
You may have had experience with: Environmental Compliance, ISO 9001, 14001, 18001 auditor or implementation, Environment Agency, Permitting, Carbon Management and Sustainability or Recycling, Quarrying, Water, Energy from Waste, Anaerobic Digestion, Landfill.
Waste Management Experience would be PREFERRABLE.
Environmental Agency experience would be DESIRABLE.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee fleet management compliance, including vehicle maintenance, adherence to driver’s hours legislation, processing tachograph data, recording Annual Leave/Sickness, and facilitating training and development for the transport team.
Manage FORS and Achilles audits and maintain related documentation.
Ensure strict adherence to safety legislation and promote safe working practices consistently.
Conduct regular fleet inspections in line with the company's Operator Licence commitments.
Ensure compliance with DVSA guidelines and roadworthiness requirements.
Uphold high standards of legal compliance through the implementation of appropriate policies, processes, and procedures.
Develop and implement training programs for Health & Safety procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT skills is essential, with experience in data analysis considered advantageous.
Qualifications (Desirable):
CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence)
NEBOSH General
WAMITAB COTC Level 4
Environmental Science Degree or Masters
ISO 9001, 14001, 18001 auditing or implementation
Full UK Driving License
Familiarity with commonly used IT systems such as Microsoft Office or Databases
