The Job People are looking for a Transport Team Leader to join an up-and-coming business in Coventry, looking after their fleet of vans and their drivers. The role is very hands on, and we are looking for a pro active 'can-do' approach from our applicants.
Shift Hours as a Transport Team Leader in Coventry:
- Start times staggered from 06.00am (flexi approach required)
- Shift cover currently Monday to Friday between 06.00 - 18.00
- 45 hours per week
- 30 minutes unpaid lunch break
- Opportunity to go permanent after a qualifying period.
Pay Rates:
- £14.50 per hour (£30k per year)
- £65 bonus for hitting set KPI's (advised when you start)
Duties:
You will be responsible for a fleet of vans and a team of drivers within the depot to ensure the smooth day to day running of the deliveries across the UK.
During your daily routine, you will need to have a very hands-on approach and have great organisational skills.
- Lead the team to ensure all daily deliveries are completed.
- Accurately checking and verifying all stock is correct on all vehicles.
- Ensuring products are packed safely and securely, so as not to be damaged in transit.
- Ensure site compliance on completing vehicle check sheets and vehicle maintenance.
- Ensure all are driving the vehicle in line with all statutory and legislative regulations.
- KPI owner data entry on all agreed system sheets.
- Ensure all vehicles are kept, safe, clean, and tidy as this represents the company.
- Ensure you are professional, courteous, and supportive to our customers at all times.
- Ensure accurate loading, unloading, and delivery of all van orders to customers OTIF.
- Lifting, moving, protecting, wrapping, and managing all products with all due care and attention.
- Using all equipment respectfully, safely, and as trained including vehicles, phones, computers & the WMS.
- Use of various systems - Optimoroute and telematics owner or guru.
- Manage site attendance, staff time sheets and holidays.
- Use driving App and ensure compliance to all required driving standards.
- Vehicle safety checks and keep vehicle safe, clean and tidy.
- Work with driver agencies to ensure to cover for all areas.
- Potential risks, problems, or product defects are reported immediately and resolved or highlighted to Transport Manager
- Reporting any issues, vehicle defects or delivery problems daily in a timely fashion for all vans.
- Participate actively in continuous process improvement projects, seek ways to develop and maximise customer service levels.
- Ensure all business and individual key performance indicators are met.
- Contribute actively to achieving departmental service level and targets.
- Ensuring the Health and Safety of yourself and others. To carry out all activities in a manner that promotes safety to yourself and your colleagues. You are the senior person on site and lead the depot.
- Ensure there is No smoking on vehicles, and all must check vehicles daily and report any and all issues.
- Managing returns and collections at the depot.
- Driver cover as and when required.
- Support with the cost control of depot.
Requirements of a Transport Team Leader:
- Candidates will need to have a flexible approach towards the working hours.
- Candidate will need to attend a 4 day induction / training programme in Hartlepool - (covered by the business)
- Currently a Monday to Friday operation, but with business growth, they will operate 7 days a week.
- We ask for candidates to be flexible to work occasional weekends on a rota, including being on call from time to time. Shared amongst colleagues.
- Candidates ideally to have Team Leader, and or Transport Planning experience.
- Over 21 years of age for Insurance Purposes.
- Have no more than 3 points on your driving licence.
- Full Driving licence required and DVLA licence check to be carried out.
- FLT Counterbalance licence advantageous to support loading the vans each day.
