Travel Trainer - Ealing

Fixed Term, Full Time

Up to £25,726 per annum

Location: Ealing

Working Style: Operational field-based worker

We are looking for a self-motivated, organised, and responsible individual to join our team based in Ealing. The Travel Trainer role focusses on achieving positive outcomes for young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities within the Ealing area, supporting them in becoming safe independent travellers and enabling them to live richer, more fulfilling lives. You will support young people and adults on a 1-2-1 basis to train them on how to access public transport on designated routes such as their home to school journey. Recent professional experience working with individuals with disabilities would be advantageous as well as a good knowledge of Ealing's public transport system.

Role responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver travel training to trainees on a 1:1 basis.
  • Visit young people and adults in their homes.
  • Develop bespoke training plans for each trainee, considering their additional needs and complexities of the route.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to the trainee and referrer.
  • Network with key individuals at schools and colleges across the borough.
  • Attend events at local schools and colleges.

Please note due to the nature of the job role, you will need to be able to travel throughout the Ealing Borough. You may also be required to travel to Chelmsford, Essex on occasion for training and development.

You will have the opportunity to undertake a Level 3 qualification in Education and Training. Achieving this award will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare, plan, deliver and evaluate basic teaching and learning sessions in a variety of teaching or training contexts.

What you will bring

  • Educated to 'A' level / NVQ level 3 within a relevant sector, plus 5 GCSE's A-C (new GCSE 4-9) including English and Math's, or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Experience within an SEN or adult social care setting is essential, and you should be able to evidence your passion, energy, and enthusiasm for working within this sector.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Motivated to instil confidence in others whilst building strong rapport.
  • Highly organised, able to manage your workload efficiently, with good IT skills and ability to meet deadlines.
