Who are we looking for?

We have an exciting opportunity available for someone to become a trainee Trim Technician. Reporting to our development manager this is a brilliant opportunity to receive world class training as Barrie prides ourselves on the investment we put into our new staff. First and foremost, we are looking for people who have the desire and commitment to learn a new skill. As a trainee technical Trim Technician, you will learn the technical aspects of trim development and grading.

You will get the chance to use our state-of-the-art Shima Seiki Apex system to develop and grade trimmings with a high degree of accuracy and measurement. A key part of becoming a success in this role will be the ability to interpret trim ideas/designs and translate these into practical programmes, working alongside our Design & Product Managers. In time you will be required to produce accurate trim knit info and product registration of trim codes.

What will you be doing?

  • Working closely within the trim technical team
  • You will be required to produce accurate trim knit info and product registration of trim codes
  • Learn the necessary skills and understand the process of data collection required for garment costing
  • Learn how to use Microsoft Excel, word and Temacs
  • You will develop the ability to interpret trimmings into practical programmes, working alongside our Design & Product Managers
  • Commitment to achieving tight deadlines to make sure that submissions and production targets are met
  • Making sure that quality standards are achieved throughout the development and industrialisation processes, whilst being as efficient and productive as possible
  • Working alongside the Shima Trim Knitting Operators to ensure that the products are knitted accurately and meet our very high-quality expectations
  • Alongside the Shima mechanic support team, provide trouble shooting expertise and resolution to any potential operational challenges that the operators cannot resolve on their own
