Job description

My client Bedford is looking for an Steam Turbine Engineer 

Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities: 

· Travel to customer sites and workshops for trouble shooting of live issues. 

· Inspect and assess turbine components providing recommendations for repair work and quality 

assurance. 

· Compare existing steam turbine designs to real operational data to create upgrades that can be 

implemented across the wider fleet. 

· Assessment of drawings, particularly for updating of spare parts and in reverse engineering. 

· Supporting Field Services Engineers remotely and on site at customer locations 

· Creation and review of outage work scopes and technical reports 

· Supporting sales and contracts engineers 

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications: 

· Ability to investigate faults and failures and the confidence to present findings to customers 

whilst standing firm on company positions for solutions. 

· Strong knowledge of fundamental mechanical engineering principles and ability to utilise 

hand calculations. 

· Ability to interact with customers and suppliers face to face, including on site at customer 

locations. Must be able to explain complex technical issues to customers in a language that 

they understand, whilst translating the detail provided by suppliers. 

· Ability to analyse operational data and draw logical, insightful conclusions. 

· Strong knowledge of industrial rotating plant with steam turbines an advantage. 

· Use of Ansys and Solid Works or equivalent software packages. 

· Relevant Engineering Degree, equivalent vocational qualification, or equivalent level of on the 

job experience 

· Must be eligible for UK security clearance. 

Desirable 

· Knowledge of standard field service works, such as required measurements, measurement 

techniques and alignment. 

· Knowledge of Control Systems for turbines or other industrial plant. 

· Knowledge of workshop and manufacturing techniques. 

· Knowledge of vibration analysis. 

· Membership of accredited professional organisation, either CEng/IEng or working towards 

achieving that status. 

The salary for this role is paying £45k to £50k
