UK CORI Secretariat Lead

Salary: £54,043
Grade: Band F
Hours: Full time, job share or part time (minimum 0.8 FTE)
Contract Type: Open Ended.
Location: Polaris House, Swindon.

The research integrity team works flexibly and takes advantage of a hybrid way of working, with the team split between UKRI's London and Swindon offices. We balance working from home and regular days in the office to support the committee's activities. The postholder will also need to be available to travel to committee related meetings across the UK; these meetings are planned well in advance.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Head of Research Integrity, and working closely with the committee co-chairs, you will develop and deliver the committee's strategic plan and related workplan to help support research being conducted across the UK research system. We work with people at all levels of seniority and across a spectrum of roles, all of whom are committed to maintaining and improving honesty, transparency, rigour, accountability, care and respect in research. Responsibilities

  • strategic advice to the co-chairs and members of UK CORI, using an understanding of relevant policy areas and the political landscape
  • secretariat functions, including effective governance, project management, and oversight of the committee programme budget
  • influencing and collaborating with key stakeholders to gain support for UK CORI’s objectives and workplan
  • commissioning specialist opinion, to build an evidence base which may be used by the committee in their annual statement on research integrity, or in recommendations related to specific workstreams

About you

  • Policy knowledge. Previous experience working in research and innovation policy, strategy, and/or funding landscape and ability to use this knowledge to translate strategic questions into deliverable work packages.
  • Committee experience. Demonstrable track record of expertise and experience leading secretariat, policy and process functions for a senior committee, board, or similar governance structure, including working with members, managing budgets and understanding emerging opportunities and risks relevant to delivering system level change.
  • Delivering at pace. Evidence of understanding and experience implementing good practice in project management and procedural principles while balancing resources and responding to different demands.
