AddressWakam is a European B2B2C insurer that designs white label general insurance (GI) products for its partners (e-retailers, brokers and fintechs/insurtechs, ...). Our insurance solutions are embedded within the products orservices offered to the end- customer.
Wakam operate in 32 countries across Europe with most of the revenues generated outside of France. Most of our products are delivered through API and hosts white label insurance solutions via our Play&Plug platform.
Since March 2021, we are a Mission-driven company. We defined 9 concrete commitments to illustrate thismission, such as writing our insurance contracts in plain language. We also create insurance products at cost for associations.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
As a Reinsurance Manager for the UK market, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, collaborating with various UK teams, including central teams in France.
Your main missions will be:
Reinsurance program management:
- Support the process of new partnerships production by reviewing the adequacy of the underlying insurance risk with the existing Reinsurance Programs
- Syndicate market information and influence the company’s reinsurance strategy by bringing insight.
- Contribute to review the appropriateness of the reinsurance programs’ structure based on the market appetite, the evolution of the underlying risk, etc.
- Contribute to the regular review of the reinsurance programs’ wordings, making sure that those don’t create reinsurance coverage gap, and align with the company strategy and risk appetite.
Reinsurance placement:
- Supervise the reinsurance submission pack production in collaboration with the appropriate contact persons in the organization (underwriting, claims, etc.).
- Produce analyses to support the reinsurers’ profitability perspective.
- Prepare materials, run meetings and support negotiation discussion with the reinsurers.
Reinsurer relationships:
- Analyze and monitor the financial strength and creditworthiness of reinsurers to minimize counterparty risks.
- Contribute to the communication plan toward reinsurers to ensure long run appetite for Wakam reinsurance programs.
- Get clear understanding of the Reinsurers appetite and make sur this is taken in account in the company’s reinsurance strategy.
Reinsurance performance monitoring and reporting
- Analyze and model potential exposures and develop appropriate reinsurance structures.
- Monitor the performance of reinsurance programs, assess their effectiveness, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor delegated reinsurance activities.
Collaborate:
- Collaborate with the other company’s teams, to bring awareness of the implication of the reinsurance on the company and syndicate meaningful information to feed the transparent relationship created with the reinsurer.
- Collaborate with the group’s reinsurance team to aligns roadmap, actions plan and manage delegated activities.
These missions may evolve according to the company’s needs and projects, in line with your profile.
This position will be based in our London office, remote working possible from the UK.
Regular trips to our Headquarters in Paris may be required.
Your profile
- Have excellent knowledge of technical outwards reinsurance operations including reinsurance systems, procedures, and regulatory reporting requirements;
- Strong understanding of outwards reinsurance systems and procedures;
- Strong understanding of Lloyd’s regulatory reporting requirements and reinsurance best practice;
- Ease in oral/written communication; French language skills are a plus.
