Be part of building Scotland's future

Join us and work on real projects on a scale that you never thought possible before graduation. As part of our Undergraduate Summer Placement Scheme, you can expect interesting, vital, hands-on work with experienced people that you can learn from.

You could be meeting with our clients – the companies innovating and scaling to improve Scotland economically. You’ll work with colleagues from across our extensive network. Crucially, you’ll get real-world experience to complement your studies. By the time you go back to university, you’ll have played an important role in helping us secure a prosperous future for Scotland.

We are Scottish Enterprise – Scotland's national and international economic development agency. We work to transform the Scottish economy. What we do really matters: from helping to create high-value jobs and boosting productivity to growing Scotland’s wealth. It’s success you could soon be part of.

The opportunity

Scotland’s Food and Drink has a global reputation for quality. It’s one of our best-performing industries and here at Scottish Enterprise we have real ambition to help the sector grow. Our Consumer Industries team aims to show buyers from around the world the scale, diversity and innovation of Scotland’s impressive Food and Drink sector – meaning we now have an incredible opportunity for you to join us and craft eye-catching category propositions that promote Scottish produce internationally.

The role

As part of Consumer Industries, which sits within Scottish Development International’s trade team, you’ll work closely with our colleagues across the globe, as well as with our ambitious Food and Drink exporters. You’ll get to know some of Scotland’s best Food and Drink exporters as you work with the team to develop compelling and attractive propositions that showcase what Scotland has to offer.

To do this effectively, you will:

  • Get feedback from our global team on any gaps in our current proposition materials
  • Develop a content plan using story maps to promote Scottish companies globally
  • Work with colleagues in Scotland to understand the company base and key Scottish brands
  • Meet with Scottish Food and Drink companies and our trade team to develop messaging and create propositions

Who we're looking for

A real interest in international trade is a must, as are curiosity and a talent for innovative thinking. Naturally, you’ll have a genuine love of Food and Drink, coupled with a determination to promote Scottish products to the world. We also expect you to come equipped with:

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • An ability to deal confidently and professionally with a diverse range of colleagues and businesses
  • A flexible, adaptable approach to different working environments
  • A creative flair to collate and present information to a high standard
  • Willingness to travel when needed to other Scottish Enterprise offices or client locations
  • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and online content creation/management tools

How to apply

If you're interested in this role, please complete an application form by 24 April 2024.

Interview dates

Interviews will be held on 7 and 8 May.
