Underwriter - Cyber
At a time of growth, investment and excitement we have a newly created Underwriter role to join our Cyber team as part of our wider, successful Financial Lines team. Joining a well-established and growing international boo that covers both Lloyd's and company market business you will work closely with colleagues in this collaborative team to provide Cyber underwriting coverage across a variety industries and territories including UK, Europe, Australia and Canada.
Your role:
•Be aware of the annual business plan for the portfolio and its context to be able to make decisions appropriately:
• Contribute, as required, to the planning process through research and project work
• Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
• Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency
• Contribute to recording and measurement of insurance risks to ensure accuracy and good practise
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, including independent brokers, business partners and colleagues, to maximise influence
• Develop a knowledge of market dynamics and market cycles to be able to operate effectively and appropriately
• Meet business objectives, including: negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business, managing production and issue of contract certainty documentation, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines, ensuring contribution to the business plan and objectives
• Participate in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives
• Contribute to the aggregate management and peer review processes to encourage and develop excellence
About you:
• Previous experience within Cyber, whether underwriting or broking.
• Knowledge of the UK Financial Lines market, whether UK focused or on an International scale
• Clear ability to manage existing client relationships and support with ongoing growth of the book with developing new business.
• Good knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements (specific reference to FCA and/or Lloyd's regulation)
• Clear organisational and prioritisation skills coupled with good analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Use of risk profiling and pricing tools and loss models
• Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packages
