How you'll make a difference

 

As part of a highly skilled, friendly and supportive team, you will make a difference by working across a variety of digital communication channels, designing and delivering clear, accessible and accurate content.      You will support the team to update and improve the council’s website, working closely with our content designers, user researcher, as well as other departments to ensure clear, well structured and accessible content that meets user-needs is published on time.

What you will be doing?
 
 
  • It will be your responsibility in maintaining and updating the council’s public website and other websites and portals, adopting and advocating the council’s user-focused approach to website content design
  • You will ensure web and digital content meets the latest accessibility regulations
  •  You will use tools such as Siteimprove and Google Analytics to measure and analyse the performance and quality assurance of websites and digital campaigns.
  • Daily, you will coordinate incoming work for the User-centred Design team, managing the User-centred Design inbox and ensuring internal clients understand and follow our required processes.
  • Within the service you will deliver digital marketing: following best practice approaches to plan, target, measure, refine and report on digital marketing activity across a range of channels including email marketing, organic and paid social media and digital advertising.
  • Occasionally you will be required to monitor social media channels, following process to respond appropriately to questions, requests and complaints.     
  • You will measure performance of websites and digital campaigns, using appropriate tools to gather and interpret data.
  • We will require you to establish good working relationships, communicate changes and developments in policy to customers and ensure that procedures and systems are updated.  

What we need from you

  • It is essential that you have experience of writing and organising clear accessible website content for large, high profile, public-facing websites, based on user needs and following a corporate style guide for a range of audiences and purposes with a keen understanding of plain English
  • We will require you to have experience of using content management systems, email marketing platforms and social media sites in a professional context with experience of delivering targeted digital marketing campaigns and reporting on usage of websites and other digital channels  
  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills and maintain effective working relationships at all levels and able to explain new ideas and communicate complex processes to non-technical audiences
