About Vicon
Vicon have revolutionized the motion capture (Mocap) industry for over 35 years, by pioneering a range of technologies – from optical to inertial and VR – to allow our customers to capture and analyse motion of all kinds. The VICON Mocap systems consists of specialized cameras that record the movements of markers or sensors attached to the person or object being tracked. Job Description
We are looking for talented and experienced UX Researcher, to join our design team in Oxford, England. We work on a wide variety of interesting, technical projects and strive to produce easy to use, high-quality, robust applications. We are looking for people with a passion for designing complex products that solve real user problems. The primary responsibility of the design team is to ensure that users' needs, goals, and behaviours are considered in the design process, resulting in intuitive and easy-to-use interfaces.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including UX and UI designers, product managers, developers, other stakeholders and focus on educating colleagues on research practices and methodologies. You would be responsible for planning, conducting, and analysing research to gather insights about users and inform the design process. You would need to travel to customer locations for research activities within UK and abroad, based on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine research objectives and employ appropriate research methodologies based on project requirements at various stages of the design cycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in Product management, Development, Design etc. to align research with the overall project plan.
  • Identify, screen and recruit participants for the research studies.
  • Create a detailed research plan including the travel logistics in accordance with the project timelines and budget.
  • Conduct research using various methods like contextual inquiry, diary studies, field studies, surveys, usability tests ensuring that research protocols and ethics guidelines are followed.
  • Observe and document user behaviour by taking detailed notes, record audio/video when appropriate and agreed with the participants.
  • Analyse research to understand needs, goals, behaviour of the target users to derive meaningful insights from the data.
  • Present key research findings and insights that have emerged from the research. Share user stories, pain points to provide a solid understanding of the user perspective.
  • Create personas to represent different user archetypes. Create journey maps to showcase the user’s experience across various touchpoints to highlight pain-points and user emotions.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops for collaboration, ideation and problem solving amongst team members, stakeholders and at times end-users.
  • Document research findings, methodologies, participant profiles and any notable insights. Organise and store research data securely for future reference.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with participants for follow-up and future research activities.
  • Stay up to date with research methodologies, trends to improve research practices by attending conferences, workshops and training sessions.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Anthropology or related field.
  • 4 -10 years of experience working on UX research projects for complicated software applications.
  • Proficiency in research methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative, skills in conducting interviews, surveys, usability testing, card sorting, ethnographic research, and data analysis.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing research projects, methodologies, and impact of your work.
  • Solid understanding of user-centred design principles and practices.
  • Deep empathy for users and a determination to advocating their needs and perspectives.
  • Excellent visualization, communication and presentation skills
