Job Summary 

The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is organized along business lines including Corporate & Investment Bank (Macro Products, Credit, Equities, Securitized Products, IB Risk), CIO, Treasury & Corporate (CTC), Asset Management, Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) and Commercial Banking (CB). Clients of the group include senior management, business heads, regulators, and both internal and external audit. Our Valuation Control team is responsible for executing the price verification process and partnering with various functional groups on valuation issues. The role is advertised as VP but experienced Associate would also be considered. 

As a member of a Team covering Valuation control of the XVA desks you will be responsible for the oversight of the Differential Discounting Business. The role will allow direct interaction with the trading desk, Market Risk, MGG, and P&L controllers on a regular basis. You will be overseeing junior members of the Team in another location. The role will require expertise in interest-rate products and an understanding of Differential Discounting. Experience in a similar Valuation, Product Control or Risk role would be a benefit. The role is based in London. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Executes price verification/benchmark process including the calculation of fair value adjustments
  • Assists with various VCG-established practices and control initiatives as well as performs necessary work relating to management reporting, regulatory mandates, and consistency within the broader VCG framework
  • Partners with various functional groups on valuation-related issues and develop/implement appropriate measures with the goal of ensuring fair value
  • Enhances existing control framework including reviewing independent pricing processes, assessing potential coverage developments, and implementing new tools to enhance control efficiency
  • Leads value-added projects related to Business, Risk, and Finance initiatives

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Relevant previous work experience, in the financial industry is a plus
  • Undergraduate degree with finance and economics major preferred
  • Graduate degree with finance, economics, mathematics, and engineering a plus
  • Ability to understand complex products, and analyze transaction and process flows
  • Understanding of valuation concepts as they pertain to financial products and derivatives, basic accounting knowledge
  • Analytical and quantitative aptitude. Candidates with quantitative backgrounds preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience with Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Visual Basic, automation, and database skills a plus
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently
