Van Driver

We are looking for new staff to join our team for the 2024. You must be able to work weekends and bank holidays and commit to 40+ hours weekly. You must be friendly and confident.

Job Purpose

Preparation of the ice cream van by loading and cleaning prior to driving the van to either one of our resident pitches or to a festival within the UK. Once at the destination it will be your responsibility to serve ice cream to the general public. You will need to represent the company in a professional manner. You will have an assistant with you to serve.

It’s a lively, hard work environment that will involve camping and weekends away from home. Applicants need to be sociable, engaging and friendly. It is essential you are a capable driver and competent enough to drive a Mercedes Sprinter van. We are based in Rochester, Kent and you would need to make your own way to and from the warehouse.

Weekly hours will vary, depending on the type and duration of the event, but you are looking at a minimum of 40 hours a week. PAYE with benefits including company pension, a food provision and free ice cream (within limits!).

Full training will be provided.

Skills;

• Proven experience as a Van Driver or similar role
• Ability to drive in a variety of weather and traffic conditions
• Strong communication skills for interacting with team members and customers
• Keeping the van clean and tidy during the sales day
• Capability for heavy lifting when loading and unloading
• Familiarity with commercial driving regulations and safety standards
• Excellent time management skills
• Be over 25 for insurance purposes

Duties;

• Preparation of ice cream van ready for day's sales. This will involve stocking the van and cleaning the vehicle to a high standard
• Driving the van to site location
• Serving customers on site. Keeping the van clean and tidy during the sales day
• Sorting the van at the end of the day - cleaning, tidying, and stock taking prior to driving the vehicle back to the depot at the end of the sales day
