Your role and responsibilities
We are a Gold standard Feline friendly RCVS accredited hospital in need of advanced practitioners/Certificate Holders in medicine and surgery to join our experienced team and help us grow. You will be joining a close-knit team with lots of experience
You will have equal share of consulting, surgical and inpatient care shifts. We are an RCVS accredited hospital and pride ourselves in doing first opinion work well. With the support of RVN’s caring for our inpatients throughout the night. Out of hours emergencies are now covered by vets where you would only be called out for our own inpatients and this is exceptionally infrequent.
We strongly encourage case continuity while providing support and mentorship where required. We would consider a vet of any level of experience for this role and feel we have a big enough team to ensure an appropriate level of support.
Our team includes a vet with a certificate in small animal medicine, advanced practitioner in diagnostic imaging and a ANZCVS diploma holder in feline medicine. Two of our vets are currently working towards further qualifications in surgery and oral and dental surgery.
We are a single site practice, and our focus is on excellent inpatient care. The successful candidate would be keen to work with the lead vet and clinical director to develop our hospital care further, build their own case load and be proactive in sharing knowledge with colleagues.
One of our vets is an advanced practitioner in diagnostic imaging and is keen to share tips and tricks for getting the best out of ultrasound examinations. We have an experienced surgeon who tackles everything from perineal hernias to complex fractures and cruciate surgeries. Our Clinical Director has a certificate in medicine and is studying towards further qualifications in oral and dental surgery and is always keen to help vets improve extraction techniques and dental radiography. One of our assistants has completed the ANZCVS diploma in feline medicine. We have a visiting peripatetic specialist orthopaedic surgeon who helps us with particularly difficult cases.

About us
Our premises, formerly a car show room, have been purpose built with ample parking and room for us to expand. Now have a 16 slice CT scanner, dedicated end of life consulting room with its own waiting area and entrance/exit for clients and beautiful large kennels for our patients .
Our in-house lab includes urine sediment exam (Idexx Sedivue), dipstix analyser, biochemistry and haematology machines, and much more.
As well as dental radiography (IM3 CR7 system) which we aim to get all our vets trained up on. Our patients that are having dental extractions will all receive nerve blocks and again we will support and help all vets learn if no prior experience. Analgesia is a priority for us and we will try and include local anaesthetic techniques wherever we can.
Our CT scanner is a 16 slice GE system. We do not interpret the images ourselves but instead send all the data to Vet CT for a specialist report. We are steadily training all of our nurses to be able to operate the CT scanner but vets are encouraged to learn too. We also offer a 'scan only' referral service to local practices.
We manage all of our chemotherapy patients and order our drugs through Chemopet who deliver it all pre-drawn. This is something we are always happy to help vets with and we will often do COP and CHOP protocols for lymphoma and protocols for mast cell neoplasia.
Located on the Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire border, we are minutes from National Trusts’ Clumber Park and within easy reach of the Peak District. Excellent transport links to Sheffield, Doncaster and Meadowhall for shopping.
If you would like to apply for the role or for an informal chat to discuss further, please get in touch with vicky.tanday@linnaeusgroup.co.uk
Linnaeus is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment, we are committed to fostering a culture that is inclusive and diverse for all our associates.
