An exciting opportunity to join the team at Oasis Academy Sholing

An outstanding opportunity exists for a forward thinking and aspirant leader to effect change and bring new dynamics to our academy.

The role and what we are looking for

Joining an established and strong senior leadership team with a proven track record of leadership qualities you will drive the delivery of excellent quality of education. The role is ideally suited to an individual who is seeking to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for Headship. The current Vice-Principal has created a culture of high expectation around the pedagogy of learning and the expectation is that the successful candidate will recognize and develop this further. There is a strong acceptance from the staff that this is central to the success of the Academy and therefore the right candidate for the role is vital.

You will be an experienced senior leader with a proven track record of school improvement, particularly related to Teaching and Learning. As a calm and reflective leader, you will have the skills to build the capacity of our very able Leadership Team. A sound understanding of school improvement strategies is key, as well as the ability to manage change and motivate staff and the community towards the achievement of clear and inspirational goals. You will also have exceptional interpersonal skills and resilience.

About our academy

We are a very close-knit secondary school community, currently we have a growing student population with over 1050 on our roll. We build strong relationships, enabling our staff to flourish and grow their skills and most importantly feel supported through precise personal development. We want to ensure that all our young people, whatever their starting points or background, get the education they deserve - and they deserve nothing less than exceptional.

Our offer to you

When you join the Sholing family there are several offers you will receive that make us stand out as an employer of choice. These include but are not limited to:

  • An exceptional CPD offer including fortnightly personalised Incremental Coaching, weekly Academy-wide and department-based CPD and termly Trust-based CPD.
  • The opportunity to undertake fully-funded National Professional Qualifications and access to Apprenticeship Levy for further professional and academic qualifications.
  • Access to an iPad for all staff / students enabling the use of Formative and other online self-marking assessment resources.
  • The opportunity to further your career within the Trust and region. There are also a range of National Lead Practitioner roles within the Trust which you may also have the opportunity to apply for.
  • Access to Eye Care vouchers and a national Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Access to Health Shield Cash Plan which can include 24/7 access to a GP, assistance with the cost and access to dental treatment, eye-care, physiotherapy, and chiropody.
  • Support to balance your work/life/caring responsibilities via our Time Off Work Policy, Menopause Policy, Flexible Working and Sabbatical Policy
  • Trust wide recognition of the challenges to mental health, facing both staff and students, and the support of our National Mental Health Team which is staffed by professionally qualified Mental Health Nurses.
  • Confidential Counselling services for you and those that live with you, should times get tough.
