We are looking for a Victim Liaison, Volunteer and Referral Order Practitioner to join our Youth Justice Service.
The role will be permanent and part-time. The salary will be prorated according to the hours/days of the role.
The Youth Justice Service is a multi-agency team whose overall aim is to reduce the risk of offending and reoffending by children and young people. Adopting a Child First Approach, our aim is to work closely with children and young people who display anti-social and/or offending behavior at an early stage, so that the behavior can be tackled before it becomes more entrenched. This includes working with children and young people on a voluntary basis, as well those subject to statutory interventions.
An important element of our work is to encourage children and young people to consider the impact of their actions and think about what they may need to do to repair any harm caused to others.
The Victim Liaison, Volunteer and Referral Order Practitioner, meets victims, to update them on the child’s progress; they offer support and ensure victims are aware of restorative justice. The role coordinates restorative meetings, trains and supports community volunteers to facilitate safe spaces for children and their carers to think about the impact of their behavior on their own communities. This is an integral role within the service, allowing for national standards to be delivered and an innovative restorative approach to be adopted.
