Entertainer (Seasonal Contract/flexible hours)

Are you available to work in the Easter holidays and beyond on a seasonal basis? Full time and part time hours available between the hours of 8am to 6pm, you must have flexibility to work either Saturday or Sunday and during the school holidays from mid-March until October 2024

Twycross Zoo has existed for 60 years. At the heart of what we do, the reason we exist, is to be an influential conservation and education charity, delivering on our commitments to be visitor obsessed and provide world-class animal environments and levels of husbandry. We welcome over 600,000 people every year to our 100-acre rural site near Atherstone, and are home to 400 animals, including one of the largest chimpanzee families in the UK, and our primate collection is up there with the best in the world! We’re the only zoo in the UK to house all four great apes and we care for many other endangered species to the highest welfare standards, including Eastern black rhino, Sumatran tigers, Amur leopards and snow leopards.

The Role

As an Entertainer you will deliver informal engagement activities, performances and presentations around the Twycross zoo site highlighting the conservation messages where appropriate. Key responsibilities will include:

· Mascot performance (including wearing large character costumes)

· Perform in the entertainment requirements of Gruffalo Discovery Land and the wider zoo

· To perform new experiences for repeat visitors so that every visit is different and memorable

· Supporting the organisation of zoo based events

· Delivery of booked activities such as birthday parties and clubs

· To have all work underpinned by the conservation goals of the organisation

· Help maintain conservation education and engagement buildings in a clean and tidy state

· Ensure all Zoo procedures, protocols and rules are followed at all times.

Our Requirements

· Experience in presenting/ performing to large groups of people desirable

· Access to some form of private transport is essential as local public transport timetables are not fitting with hours of work

· An outgoing and approachable personality with a confidence to talk and perform to people

· A friendly and enthusiastic attitude with a passion for delivering excellent customer service and memorable experiences

· Ability to professionally cope with a variety of work and be flexible in their approach to tasks and hours

· Punctual, reliable, and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team and unsupervised
