Job description

Summary

Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.

If you love working at a busy, outdoor location and care for places so that people and nature can thrive – then this could be the job for you.

Due to the seven days a week operation of the site, working days will be Sunday to Thursday.

This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in equal instalments over the year

What it's like to work here

You’ll be reporting to the Senior Visitor Experience Officer and working as part of the Studland team in Purbeck. The Studland Peninsula is one of the most bio-diverse areas in the UK and is home to some of the rarest species including all 6 British reptiles. The sites wildlife rich habitats and stunning sandy beaches draw in over 1.5 million visitors each year. This is a great platform for delivery of an engaging programme of visitor facing activities as well as interpretation and community partnership work.

What you'll be doing

As Visitor Experience Officer, working throughout the year in a unique location like Studland bay requires commitment and an energetic approach. You will be working to deliver the current programming calendar whether direct delivery of trails and activities or supporting partners to facilitate their events. You will be enabling and supporting volunteers to assist with activities as well as encouraging more to join. You will also be planning for 2025 with innovative and creative ideas to engage people with nature and the unique and special site. This role will suit someone who has a love of the outdoors and nature and an interest in active pursuits as well as an appreciation of excellent service delivery. There will be opportunities to collaborate with colleagues from across the Purbeck portfolio including Visitor Welcome teams, Outdoor Facilities and project staff to deliver our engagement and conservation strategies.
