Who can apply?

We are seeking people from diverse backgrounds with wide ranging experience and an interest in strategic level work. Volunteering as a Trustee is an interesting and rewarding way to learn about Gender Based Violence and make a tangible difference to it in your local community. Being a Board member is a learn-as-you-go process. You don't need to be an expert. You'll receive training from Rape Crisis Scotland and we'll support you with a local induction too.

If you have any of the following we'd be especially keen to hear from you:

- PR/ marketing experience/ networks/ interest

- fundraising experience/ networks/ interest

- political experience /networks/ interest

- treasury or financial management experience

- well connected locally

- diverse background

What is the commitment?

The time commitment is approximately 1-3 meetings per quarter, usually held on a weekday evening either via Zoom or at our centre on Dee Street, Aberdeen. Our meetings are uplifting, interesting, informal and productive. Travel expenses paid.

What does a Board Member do?

In short, Board Members are regular people who volunteer to help charities grow and to safeguard their good practice. Strong Boards need people with diverse perspectives to help us make great decisions that support the community. Board members work together to ensure the charity conducts its services in an ethically sound and financially sustainable manner.

What difference will I make?

Your contribution as a Trustee usually draws from your values as a person as much as any experience. RCG's work is wide ranging so you'll be exposed to lots of different and interesting aspects. Our charity works with 1000s of local children and adults every year - from prevention work, to outreach, to emotional support, and advocacy. Your contribution on the Board is crucial to us maintaining and developing this reach..

Volunteering for RCG leaves you with the feeling that you've done something really worthwhile. It's one of the best ways you can help our valued organisation, without having to deliver frontline support.

Please note only women need apply under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010. We are committed to promoting equality and diversity and applications are welcomed from women of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from BME women, LGBT women, retired women, and disabled women.

We also encourage applications from survivors and ex-service users, but please be aware that we can only accept applications from ex-service users who have been more than 2 years out of service. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from current service users.
