Job description

Volunteer Guide | Ideally 2 days per month

National Museums Scotland is currently looking for Volunteer Guidesat our National Museum of Flight location (East Fortune Airfield, East Lothian).

We are looking for enthusiastic, interested and communicative individuals to join our Visitor Experience team as a volunteer.

About the role

As part of the team of volunteers at the National Museum of Flight, you will assist staff with the presentation of our collection including Concorde, Jetstream, BAC1-11, Comet, Vulcan, and Boeing 707 aircraft.  You will help visitors to get the most out of taking a walk-through the aircraft, offer interesting stories and answer visitor queries.

What’s involved?

  • Follow National Museums procedures for caring for the aircraft
  • Interact and engage with our diverse range of visitors
  • Enthusiastically communicate knowledge about the aircraft, and the museum
  • Help support and improve the visitor experience in conjunction with our Visitor Experience Department.

When is it?

Volunteering hours are negotiable. Ideally, we are hoping our successful volunteers would be able to provide us with 2 days (8 hours) per month and be able to start as soon as possible.

Please note we may start screening volunteers from the start of the campaign. A successful volunteer could progress to offer before the advertised closing date (29/03/2024) which may result in the positions being delisted.
