Duration: Fixed Term, Part Time

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

job purpose/about the role

The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate the volunteer and placement activity and act as point of contact for the AAGM Friends organisation. The post holder will also support the management of and public access to the reference libraries within the service including the McBey Library, a specialist Art Reference Library situated in the Art Gallery and the Lloyds Library, situated in Aberdeen Maritime Museum.

The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate the volunteer and placement activity across the Archives, Gallery & Museums service. Our volunteering programme offers positive work experiences and learning opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. You will directly manage volunteers and support those working with colleagues across the service and must be well organised with a clear communication style.The role takes an active role in the management of and public access to the McBey Library, a specialist art reference library situated in the Art Gallery and the Lloyds Library, situated in Aberdeen Maritime Museum.  This is an opportunity to work with a wide range of people and be part of a dynamic team supporting enthusiastic volunteers working with our collections, libraries and public programmes.

Educated to Higher Grade level or equivalent

  • Experience co-ordinating volunteers or working in the third sector with people of all ages and abilities
  • Coaching and Mentoring
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, both verbally and in writing
  • Records management
  • Extensive IT experience, particularly using Microsoft TEAMS, Office / Office 365
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experience of working independently and as part of a team
