Volunteers have been at the heart of our work for over 15 years and will be an integral part of the charity reaching its goals in the future. If you’re a true team player with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and would like to give the gift of time to The Donkey Sanctuary, we are looking for a volunteer to support our busy Retail Team based at The Donkey Sanctuary main site in Sidmouth, East Devon – a designated area of natural beauty.
Customer facing duties will be a high priority in this role, so that both existing and potential supporters feel valued and well looked after whilst visiting the site.

You will be able to help us with …….
- Helping visitors make the most of their visit and engaging them in the charity at every opportunity.
- Advising visitors of the work of the charity, answering queries and advising on visitor facilities at Slade House Farm, promoting all onsite events and activities.
- Ensuring the Gift Shop is well stocked with Donkey World goods and maintaining merchandising displays to guidelines to maximise sales.
- Till operation and cash handling.
- Selling Donkey World goods, taking donations and proactively up-selling merchandise and charity products (such as Adopt a Donkey).
After completing a 1-day induction, you will be a true ambassador for The Donkey Sanctuary, demonstrating our values of compassion, collaboration and creativity.
We welcome applications from all who are able to join us on the following days –
- Mondays – 10.00-14.00
- Fridays – 10.00-14.00
- Saturdays – 11.00-15.00
- Sundays – 11.00-15.00
