W3 Professorship (m/f/d) in Molecular Plant Science

The appointment is for the earliest possible date.

Your responsibilities

The faculty is seeking candidates (m/f/d) with an internationally outstanding research profile in the biochemistry, cell biology, physiology and especially systems biology of plant metabolism. Research should focus on the biosynthesis, transport, accumulation, and function of secondary metabolites. This should include the biochemical characterization of corresponding enzymes and regulators. Holistic systems biology-based approaches (transcriptome, proteome, metabolome) with non‑model plants are of interest. Furthermore, research covering the adaptation of plants to environmental stresses including infections by bacteria, fungi and viruses complements the local research interests. The active integration into the key research area “Engineering for Health” with the research centres BRICS and PVZ is expected. Furthermore, a close cooperation with the local research partners of the TU (HZI, DSMZ, PTB, JKI, TI) is essential. Responsibilities of the future professor include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level of Biology, Biotechnology and Biochemistry.

• Active integration into the research focus "Engineering for Health" with the research centres BRICS and PVZ
• Close cooperation with the local research partners of the TU (HZI, DSMZ, PTB, JKI, TI)
• Very good command of the English language and willingness to teach in English
• Willingness to participate in the self-administration of the university
• Willingness to participate in the internationalization of the university and in research
• Experience with successful acquisition willingness to raise third-party funds

Individual career decisions and career breaks due to parental/family care leave affecting research output will be taken into account by the appointment committee.

Requirements, § 25 NHG

• A degree in a relevant field
• Pedagogical aptitude
• Special qualification for in-depth independent scientific work, as a rule proven by an above-average doctorate
• Additional academic achievements, usually within the framework of a junior professorship, a postdoctoral degree (Habilitation) or through achievements equivalent to a Habilitation
