Food runner duties:
- Greeting and Seating Customers: Waiters are often the first point of contact for customers. They greet guests as they arrive, assist them with finding a suitable table, and guide them through the seating process.
- Taking Orders: Waiters take food and drink orders from customers, ensuring accuracy and clarity. They may also provide recommendations, answer questions about the menu, and accommodate special requests or dietary restrictions.
- Serving Food and Beverages: Once orders are placed, waiters communicate them to the kitchen or bar staff. They then deliver the food and drinks to the appropriate table in a timely manner, ensuring presentation and quality meet the restaurant's standards.
- Check Management: Waiters are responsible for managing customers' checks, including accurately recording items ordered, calculating totals, processing payments, and providing receipts.
- Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service is a key aspect of a waiter's role. This includes being attentive to customers' needs, addressing any concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, and ensuring guests have a positive dining experience.
- Table Maintenance: Throughout the meal, waiters monitor tables, clearing empty plates and glasses, refilling drinks as needed, and ensuring tables are clean and presentable for the next guests.
- Food Pickup: Once orders are ready in the kitchen, Food Runners are responsible for picking them up and transporting them to the appropriate tables in a timely manner, coordinating with wait staff to ensure orders are delivered accurately.
- Quality Check: Food runners may conduct a quick quality check on the food before delivering it to the table, ensuring it meets the restaurant's standards and matches the customer's order.
- Clean-Up: After meals are served, Food Runners may assist in clearing tables, collecting empty dishes and utensils, and ensuring the dining area is clean and organized for the next guests.
