North Lakes Children's Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged 6-18. We improve the resilience, self-esteem and abilities of all the young people we work with.

As a Waking Night ResidentialSupport Worker there is a high expectation placed on you to be "strong, committed and passionate" about your role. The young people are at the centre of everything we do - both for and with them. You are a role model, a listening ear, a warm and approachable person and potentially someone who could inspire and make a massive and significant impact on a young person's life, their choices, who they are and who they can be! You need to promote, support and facilitate the creation of "happy memories" and have fun with them to do so.

Main Duties:

  • You should assist sleep-in staff with the evening routine of young people this will also assist you in "building positive relationships" with the young people.
  • To be responsible for the house, property, security and all persons within during the night: 21.30 - 08.00. Arriving on duty,
  • To undertake domestic duties as directed by the Registered Manager / Shift Leader these are noted on your waking watch recording sheet.
  • To ensure the house in general is clean, tidy and well presented.
  • To undertake a security patrol around the building during your shift
  • To be aware of all our young people, who they are and what their needs are.
  • Have a "real" awareness of the "lone-working" policy, as through the night when the sleep-in staff are in bed you will be on the "floor" yourself, unless you require assistance.
  • To be aware of the need for absolute confidentiality regarding staff and young people
  • To report any staff and young person complaints and keep a log of all nocturnal movements and incidents
  • To report immediately any incidents of fire, damage, theft and other irregularities to the senior member or staff on duty
  • Your main duty is ensuring that all young people are monitored and that they are safe in their rooms and that you assist the Support staff with the young people

Main details:

  • To share in creating a purposeful, caring, learning environment for our young people, by the application of high professional standards of care and support for the young person's social, emotional and /or behavioural needs, and learning difficulties.
  • To be part of a team that strives to motivate, encourage, develop and nurture not just the young people, but each other.
  • You should have a "passion" about working with young people and being part of a team who are productive and collaboratively strive for positive outcomes every-day, as well as being "child-focused".

Accountability:

  • As a member of the Waking Night team you will be accountable to the registered manager.
  • You must also be accountable for attending all training courses, and completing your Diploma 3 Qualification, and any other developmental opportunity the company provides for you.

  • You must be accountable for striving for the best outcomes for and with our young people
  • Have a full, clean UK driving licence and be able to cover at other Residential Homes as and when needed.

This is a wonderful opportunity to join an established Children's service who will offer you the following:

  • Company pension
  • Access to our Exchange Employee Discount Scheme
  • Access to wellbeing programmes via our Exchange Provision
  • Comprehensive training programme, followed by a comprehensive and ongoing CPD Programme
  • Access to qualifications (Including Diploma 3/Diploma 5)
