Waking Night Support Worker
SALARY/HOURLY RATE: £21,441 pa / £11.00 p.h. (Pro Rata for part time)
Hours: 31.5
LOCATION: BEAVER LANE ASHFORD KENT
About the Role: Waking Night Support Worker
Waking Night Support workers help the people we support to feel safe and secure throughout the night. Delivering exceptional care and individualized support ensures that our residents live as independently and safely as possible. In addition, the responsibilities of the role are to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the service and carry out necessary utility checks. This is a personally rewarding role where you can build on your skills and experience. Having a background in supporting people with Autism in a previous role within a social care environment is desirable, although is not essential.
What is essential is that you understand that autism can be complex and challenging and that each person we support is unique.
Meet the Team:
Our Beaver Lane site offers superb residential accommodation currently for 6 adults with Autism, the service has 3 self contained flats, and the other people share communal space (Male & Female). Our tenants participate in a wide range of activities and enjoy visiting local places of interest, spending time in the garden, Going for long walks, having BBQs and spending time with the services chickens, listening to all types of music, being creative and generally having fun.
The specialist staff team in situ are looking forward to welcoming a new colleague and have suggested we let you know that they are all a little animal crazy, and they enjoy team building activities such as visiting a Lock in/Panic Room experience together, they are all friendly and eager to welcome you to the team!
TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES OF A WAKING NIGHT SUPPORT WORKER (MAY INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
o Routine safety checks on individuals and their environment
o Ensure the service is safe and secure
o Household management tasks cooking, cleaning etc.
o Administering medication
o Assisting individuals with personal care and hygiene
o Ensuring written records are correctly maintained
o Will include lone working
o Working with individuals who can display challenging behaviours and mental health issues - hurting self or others, running away, throwing things, swearing, shouting.
o Working with and supporting individuals with additional needs, such as epilepsy, pica, learning disabilities.
o Understanding each individuals abilities and support needs
o Promoting independence and choice
o Promoting equality, diversity & inclusion
o Uphold the privacy, confidentially and dignity of all individuals
o To form good working relationships with other members of staff across different services.
o A commitment to continuous personal development and learning.
