Role: Children's Residential Support Worker (Waking Night Shift)
Hours: Monday - Sunday - 40 hour per week
Shift Hours: 9.30pm - 8.30am
London: South London
Salary: £23,795.00- £28,080.00 per annum (Plus optional overtime)
What the role involves:
- Providing a secure, stable, caring, supportive environment for children and young people in our care.
- Providing effective personal care to the children and to maintain a high standard of residential care promoting at all times a safe and secure environment.
- Ensuring that children and young people’s needs are met within a culturally appropriate environment.
- Establishing and maintaining routines within the home which provide a framework for the development of a positive culture of care.
- Providing personal care, advice, and support to young people at all times ensuring the social, physical, and emotional care of children.
- Acting as a positive role model for young people and other staff in the home and offer advice, guidance, and assistance where appropriate.
- Participating in and the creation of a Personal Training plan based upon your identified developmental needs in conjunction with your supervisor.
- Participating in and make effective use of regular supervision from your supervisor/ Manager.
- Protecting the rights and promote the interests of young people Respect confidentiality within the principles of the Children Act 2004 sec 10 Duty to co-operate.
- Promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Record and Report any identified repairs and routine maintenance to the building.
- Liasing with staff and multi-agencies to ensure that young people’s receive support to their changing needs.
The succesful candidate will have the following qualifications, experience and skills:
Essential:
- Willingness to continue to develop through on the job training and online courses.
- Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and well-being of children and young people.
Desirable:
-NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children’s and Young People workforce or equivalent. Applicants who do not have level 3 will be required to work towards this after passing probation.
-Experience working with children living with challenging behaviour, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Autism or who have experienced trauma, abuse or neglect.
-Experience working in a children’s residential home or a similar setting (1 year)
