Ward 7 leader

The post holder will participate in, and influence, care delivery by leading the team in providing evidence-based nursing care ensuring that care is assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated utilising a patient centred approach. They will co-ordinate nursing activity and ensure smooth operational running in the ward environment. They will be responsible for ensuring that there are adequate staffing levels and appropriate skill mix to meet the needs of the patients, ensuring that patient care is of a high standard. They will facilitate regular meetings with staff to encourage the exchange and implementation of new ideas and ways of working, increasing efficiency and maximising the use of available resources, ensuring that performance standards are met in accordance with agreed objectives. They will deputise for the matron and participate in senior nurse bleep rota, lead patient and public involvement in the ward area leading to service improvement and promote high standards of record keeping in accordance with professional, legal and organisational guidance, ensuring nurses understand their relevance and the nature of confidentiality. The post holder will lead the ward team in the management of ward environment to meet Trust objectives for Risk Management and Health & Safety. They will act as a resource of professional knowledge for the multi-disciplinary team, patients and relatives through application of theory in practise. They will participate in management of complaints and patient concerns at ward level referring to relevant departments when appropriate. They will ensure that effective communication has been established with all disciplines, patients and relatives. and will possess the ability to assess and advise patients in crisis situations and ensure that their needs are met by the whole team.
