We have an exciting opportunity for a strong and empathetic registered nurse to lead the team in our Surgical Inpatient Ward as a Ward Manager. As a Ward Manager you will work in partnership with the Clinical Nurse Manager , Deputy Chief Nurse, Consultant specialists, and senior management team to create and deliver outstanding care services. This role is ideal for a registered nurse, who is totally patient focused with extensive experience in surgical nursing and a desire to lead and inspire others in a clinical environment that promotes staff development and well-being.
This is a full time role working 37.5 hours Monday to Friday.
Role Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrate excellent clinical practice at all times and be accountable for own actions, working within the NMC Code of Conduct
- Lead and Support the surgical inpatient team in the successful running of the day to day activities including bed management and staff allocation.
- Ensure the patient experience and well-being remains at the heart of the business
- Maintain clear communication and lines of accountability.
- Motivate and ensure that all staff are trained, developed and empowered to deliver “health care at its best”, and to take pride in the work and enjoy the diversity of our hospital
Person Specification:
Essential
- Hold a BSc in Adult Nursing (or equivalent) and a current NMC registration
- Have extensive post-registration experience
- Have proven leadership experience, the ability to manage challenging situations and a desire to mentor others
- Have significant knowledge of clinical governance and its application
Desirable
- Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Sister
- Have mentorship training and qualification
- Experience of working in a variety of settings
