Palletways Cardiff are looking for a skilled forklift truck operator to work within the pallet and haulage industry. We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team at our Barry site on a full-time basis as we continue to grow in the logistics sector. As a Warehouse Operative, you'll play an important part in our outbound and inbound delivery operation. Not only will you help to ensure that our day drivers’ freight is tipped and sorted correctly but also play a key part in making sure that our evening operation is able to run smoothly, with the loading of our night trailers. You can expect full ongoing training and development as part of this role and will receive full uniform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently and safely operate forklift trucks to move, load and unload pallets within the warehouse.
- Organise, and stack pallets safely in a systematic manner to optimise space and facilitate easy retrieval.
- Conduct daily checks on forklift trucks and report any defects to ensure the forklifts are in optimal working condition.
- Collaborate with warehouse team and traffic team to ensure smooth loading and loading processes.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines set out by Palletways to maintain a safe working environment.
- To shunt vehicles around yard area.
- Assist C&D drivers where possible, for a quicker turnaround when entering and exiting the warehouse.
- Knowledge of the haulage industry is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and react to any issues when they occur.
- Commitment to health and safety at all times.
- Being able to work closely as a team, as you will need to communicate effectively throughout your shift.
- 2 years preferred experience.
Qualifications:
- Valid Forklift Truck license (Counterbalance) – Essential.
- Valid Driving License. – Essential.
Hours: 13.30 – 20:00
- Saturday (1 in 7)
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £11.44 per hour
