WASTE & ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES MANAGER

£55,182 - £61,386 p.a. plus an essential car user allowance of £1,239 annually, Emergency Standby of £4,095 p.a, and 17.4% employer pension contribution

Working at the heart of East Cambridgeshire District Council in the beautiful cathedral city of Ely, this is a superb career opportunity for an astute, forward-thinking Waste & Environmental Services Manager with a demonstrable track record of success.

We’re looking for an individual with the ambition and drive to shape the Waste & Environmental Services. Leading a dedicated and diligent team, you’ll bring a blend of strategic oversight, a customer-focused approach, exceptional relationship, and operational management to this busy and varied role.

You’ll be joining us at a pivotal time as we develop our operational and strategic Strategy for Waste and Street Cleansing services, and embrace the latest technology to transform this already excellent service into one that is digital first, customer-focused and efficient,

You’ll be able to respond to the dynamic legislative and regulatory macro environment and meets the objectives of our Corporate Plan, to take a proactive approach to environmental enforcement and implement the new requirements of the Environmental Act 2021. You’ll also have the skills and expertise to manage a large multi-disciplinary team covering the broad spectrum of Environmental Health, strategic Waste and recycling services, enforcement, and the Home Improvement Agency and lead on policy development for these services.

To be a success in this role you’ll have a degree or its equivalent in Environmental Health or Waste Management and a sound working knowledge of the regulatory frameworks.
