The Role

Seek early-identification of problematic waste and propose solutions to de-risk the impacts.
- Lead the development and implementation of waste characterization campaigns, supporting project leads by explaining characterisation requirements and delivering relevant training.
- Review radioactive waste and material inventory to identify suitable disposal routes, apply Best Available Techniques and lead on consignment and disposal activities whilst ensuring legal compliance and liability reduction, generating reports where appropriate and engaging with procurement activities where required.
- Development of scope, schedule and cost for waste related activities, supporting decommissioning programmes and acting as a technical adviser to ensure that facilities and processes are designed such that wastes can be appropriately managed and disposed of.
- Conduct audit activities in relation to site and external waste disposal services. Review and approve sampling methodologies and specify analytical requirements to ensure legislative compliance.
