The Opportunity:

We have a great opportunity for a Waste Minimisation and Sustainability Advisor to join our Operations service to help tackle climate change and support residents and local businesses in minimising waste, recycling more and maximising opportunities in the circular economy.

The Role:

The changes to waste and recycling legislation and policies make this a very exciting time to join the Waste Minimisation & Sustainability team, as they will be integral to delivering these changes over the coming years.

The climate crisis is one of the most significant issues to face our society, our environment and the planet. We have seen a rapid global rise in greenhouse gas emissions over the last 100 years and a trend towards increasing global average temperatures over the last century.

The post holder will support the design and delivery of educational sessions to residents, schools and community groups, will act as the point of contact for residents and provide administrative and research support for the Operations Services.

The Experience You Will Bring:

To be successful in this role you will be confident and experienced in dealing with people, with the ability to establish credibility at all levels. A genuine commitment towards the environment, tackling climate change and preventing waste is essential, due to the nature of the message and its target audience. You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and a proven experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and Power Point.

You will need to be flexible with your hours, which could occasionally start as early as 6.30am when liaising with the refuse and recycling collection crews. Occasional evening and weekend working may also be required in order to attend evening meetings/talks and weekend events. Candidates should possess a full clean driving licence and access to their own vehicle for business use.

In return we will offer our Waste Minimisation and Sustainability Advisor excellent benefits including;

  • Competitive pay and benefits
  • Flexible working
  • Free parking
  • Local government pension scheme
  • Learning and development for all staff
  • Staff discounts at local businesses
  • Staff recognition schemes
  • Extensive health and wellbeing programme including discounted gym membership
