About the role
We have got an excellent opportunity to join the team that are responsible for operating and maintaining our Wastewater service to our customers in various locations across the Northumbrian region. You’ll be providing a wastewater treatment service that protects and enhances the environment, whilst also improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of the people and wildlife is invaluable.
This team will be focusing on investigating and managing wastewater assets flow, performance and compliance, as well as supporting a number of capital schemes to replace key instrumentation. This role will include raising awareness of flow compliance and establishing a heighten level of competence across the team. This will include embedding best practice and coaching the wider team.
Working as part of a team you will be responsible for investigating and interpreting data (MIPS, TRIM, SCADA & external web-providers including JRP) and recommend change as appropriate to the issue ensuring proactive performance management and control. Prepare reports verbally and in written format, on plant optimisation and performance. The reports will identify and support the delivery of capital interventions and improvements.
Within this role you will ensure that through effective monitoring / operating and control of large wastewater plants they meet their business, commercial and statutory obligations. This will be achieved by following NWL policies, procedures and guidelines to gain maximum efficiency of the business without compromising safety. The role also requires you to conduct tasks in all conditions to ensure these assets operate correctly and will undertake fault-finding investigations when issues are found. Full training will be provided to undertake the various technical aspects of this role.
About you
Our Wastewater Process Technicians carry out regular analysis of performance data, effluent quality and volume so we are looking for people who are confident with interrogating and interpreting data. No two days are the same - you will be someone who is happy working in a team or alone with minimal supervision and flexible enough to meet a varied workload. You will need to use judgement / experience to make decisions on requesting support from other internal departments, but we’ll be providing you with full training to get you up to speed with our processes.
You’ll be highly motivated, demonstrating flexibility with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and direct others. You be able to work efficiently both alone and with others and have excellent communications skills both verbally and in writing. Demonstrating an excellent understand of biological and sewage treatment and other related processes , diagnostic competency in determining mode of plant or equipment failure and effective use and interrogation of the SCADA are essential for this role.
A full driving licence is essential.
