Job Purpose
You'll Support the delivery of the Annual Review of the Water Resources Management Plan and deliver technical outputs to the Water Resource Management Plan (WRMP) and Drought Plan. You'll prepare Water Resources components feeding into the WRMP and the Business Plan,ensuring consistency across key strategic plans. You'll implement Water Resources planning methods and ensure that technical work streams are equipped for making robust decisions, balancing risks, opportunity and affordability and also support communication between the Water Resources team and regulators and key stakeholders.
Job Accountabilities
You'll be responsible for supporting the effective completion of horizon scanning, through collation and analysis of guidance documents, legislation, and Government plans, and communicating this to the Water Resources team. You'll support work stream leads in the development, maintenance, communication and embedment of water strategies. You'll also be responsible for:
- Using analytical reasoning and data visualisation techniques to periodically communicate key trends in the industry to the Water Resources team.
- Supporting the population of tables and technical reports in a timely manner to meet key regulatory deadlines.
- Developing and embedding best practice for key Excel workbooks, including exploring the use of programming languages such as VBA and Python for automating repetitive tasks.
- Identifying improved ways of working through lessons learnt and engagement exercises, and lead on implementing these in the Water Resources team.
- Developing the appropriate audit trails for key plan documents and tables.
- Taking a lead on some elements of the WRMP and Drought Plan (for example, calculation of Water Imports and Exports, Customer and Stakeholder Engagement, Consultation Response)
- Conducting analysis on key datasets for a broad range of work streams
- Organising materials for liaison meetings with regulators, including slides, the agenda, updating the action log and taking minutes.
- Providing support to the team on UKWIR research projects (for example, pulling together UU data, liaising with stakeholders across the business).
Knowledge and Skills
To be considered for this role you'll have a degree or equivalent qualification in a numerate or technical discipline, together with relevant experience and data and information handling as well as analytical skills to draw appropriate conclusions from relevant data. You'll also have:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational skills to ensure that work is prioritised and managed through to completion.
- Good Excellent analytical reasoning and problem solving.
- Experience in regulatory submissions such as the Business Plan, Water Resource Management Plan and Drought Plan.
