About the role

We now have an opportunity for a Treatment Works Controller (That's what we call it internally) to join the team who operate & maintain Water Treatment assets across our South Essex Water Supply area.

Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for operating and controlling key Water Treatment assets at Chigwell Water Treatment Works and other sites within the area. Within this role you will conduct tasks in all conditions to ensure these process assets operate correctly and efficiently, undertaking fault investigations and taking appropriate critical actions when issues are found.

You will need to have good IT skills and be able to analyse and interpret various pieces of information to identify process issues and optimise the assets’ performance. Being able to apply your experience and knowledge to work logically through any challenge in a calm and methodical way is key to success in this role.

You’ll carry out routine water quality analysis, adjust Treatment Processes, monitor, and control flow rates, undertake plant checks, front line maintenance tasks, validation checks on various types of instrumentation and complete both paper and electronic records.

As part of this role, you will participate in out of hours standby rota requiring you to be available on a call-out basis to attend the site to resolve urgent issues overnight and at weekends.

Full training will be provided to undertake the various technical aspects of this role.

This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.

Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.

Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked.
